A story on bio packaging to celebrate #OnePlasticFreeDay

#OnePlasticFreeDay

By now we all know that the levels of unrecycled plastic have reached alarming levels, the next step is doing something about it!

Inspiralia Group is currently collaborating with a client that is working on a solution to help reduce the use of plastic packaging mainly in the supermarket where a significant amount of foods is packed in plastic. Answering the call from both consumers and the industry, a bio-packaging is being developed under the Biocomplack project. Compared to traditional plastic packaging, bio-packaging present two main advantages:

  • It is elaborated using renewable resources instead of fossil resources
  • It is biodegradable. Plastic items can take as long as 1000 years to decompose

But the list of benefits from the use of Biocomplack bio-packaging doesn’t stop there. We can also add increased shelf life of products by up to 3 times. Increased shelf life leads to less food waste and cost cuts at the end of the value chain like the need for cold storage decrease and generates fewer movements between vendor and stocker.

Bioplastics help us reduce our dependence on limited fossil resources and promote the preservation and respect of the environment. Take on the challenge and start with #OnePlasticFreeDay today, tomorrow and the next…

Dare to ask yourself the question: What really happens to the plastic you throw away?
