At difficult times the community should come together.
The COVID-19 pandemic has left no one indifferent, but as always in times of crisis, those most affected are people who already before had limited resources. With many businesses finding themselves forced to give notice of furlough or layoff, many families are finding it difficult to comply even with basic needs as putting food on the table. Understandably it’s not the time to invest in new technology and put the family budget through additional distress.
Provivienda is one of the associations that have stepped up for many families in Spain by providing support with help from the community. They have started various initiatives providing useful information and advice as well as food collections.
With schools and universities closing down for safety reasons, many children and youth have been completely disconnected and unavailable to continue the curricular activities due to the lack of electronic devices. During an inventory of our laptop park, we realized we had several units that could come to better use. Said and done, we reach out to Provivienda and offered to donate them.
To our satisfaction, it didn’t take long before we heard back from them, as they let us know that they were already being used by their new owners who were eager to get back to learning again!
It doesn’t take much to make a positive impact on someone’s life, but what counts it’s not so much about the extent of your help as it’s actually about doing something in the first place. Have you or your company been helping out others during the pandemic?
