Advanced Materials


Inspiralia Advanced Materials Group is a multi-disciplinary team delivering technological solutions to the industry. The Advanced Materials Group is active in five research lines:


Functional and Smart materials:

Development of sensors, hybrid scaffolds for tissue engineering, biocides and self-healing materials.


Surface technology:

Polymeric films, multi-layered structures and surface treatments including the surface modification and functionalization for the preparation of membranes and catalysts.


Nanomaterials:

Synthesis of photo catalytic TiO2 nanoparticles, micro and nano-encapsulation of organic and inorganic particles. Coatings and adhesives: expertise in Organic and Polymer Synthesis (polyols, polyethylene, silicone chemistry), formulation of paints and protective coatings and adhesives (PU, epoxy), electro-conductive inkjet inks..


Materials processing:

Production of fibres, films and composites, compounding and extrusion of thermoplastics, vulcanization of elastomers.


Materials for Green technologies:

Biodegradable and made from renewable resources polymers. New catalyst and filtering materials for water/air depollution and remediation. New engineered materials for energy storage and improved efficiency.
